A peek into the past…

So…the “A Surfer’s Journal” collection is likely to be the last realistic series I will be doing for a while…

Wait, what?

I have been exploring illustration and design these past two years and can see myself continuing to move in that direction rather than that of fine art. As I have grown and changed these past few years, my art has shifted and developed as well.

I was desperate to capture the beauty of the surf in “A Surfer’s Journal” in a realistic style because I wanted to be able to look at them as if I was looking at an actual photo that I *would have* taken in those moments (had I had a camera or my brain had the capabilities of an instant Polaroid camera).

However, I have over 8 sketchbooks filled with illustrative sketches and doodles that communicate ideas, concepts, and emotions better than just realistic landscapes.

Tbh, I’ve been resisting trying to fully finalize them in color for fear of them not turning out “good enough.”

Ugh, sometimes being a perfectionist is the absolute worst, am I right?

Anyway…I can’t hold these sketches back any longer and am going to be working on fully developing them for the foreseeable future!

I am so excited to experiment and share them with you.

Don’t get me wrong, though.

I still do enjoy realism and am proud of many past realistic pieces.

SO, as a sort of send-off to these works, I am gonna share with you all my favorites.

Let’s dive into the archives, shall we?

As always, thanks for being here!
