Hey, how’s it going?! I’m Ella Eland: a self-taught painter and illustrator who captures the beauty and joys of life in the sun, sea, and surf. 

Though I grew up in the snowy mountains of Breckenridge, CO, I now call Oahu, Hawai’i home.

After spending three months traveling around the Big Island and O'ahu learning about Hawaiian culture and the native environment, volunteering with local farms and organizations, and experiencing the endless beauty of the islands, Hawai'i stole my heart.  At the age of 18, I moved alone to O'ahu to pursue a life of simplicity, creativity, and peace.

The stunning natural landscape is my ultimate source of refuge, tranquility, and gratitude. Though I have struggled with depression and anxiety, I have found constant peace and happiness through being in nature (particularly the ocean) and exercise (surfing). My artwork is inspired by the serene beauty of the natural environment and the feeling of calm and happiness it brings me, as well as the little everyday joys of island life that remind me to be present and grateful.
